Westport WA

Westport WA is a coastal town on the south side of Grays Harbor on the Pacific Ocean.   It's 2.5 hours from Seattle in the southwestern corner of Washington State, and is a popular destination for fishing charters.  Other highlights include the Westport Maritime Museum, Grays Harbor Lighthouse, and "Dune Trail" at Westhaven State Park.

The Westport Maritime Museum is inside an old 1930's Coast Guard building, a beautiful example of colonial revival architecture.  The museum is home to an exquisite set of fresnel lens, on display from the decommissioned Destruction Island Lighthouse off the Washington Coast.   Directly south of the museum is the Westhaven State Park "Dune Trail" perfect for a long walk or bike ride along the Pacific Ocean. This connects with the Westport Light State Park and the the Grays Harbor Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Washington State, constructed in 1898. The total distance between the museum and lighthouse is 2.5 miles.

Some kid friendly activities at Westport include Go Karts, the Viking Bowling Alley, and Family Fun Center with karts, bumper boats, arcade games, pool tables and 18-hole miniature golf.  Seals can also often be observed at the marina.

Westport Winery

For wine connoisseurs, consider traveling 15 minutes east of Westport to visit the Westport Winery.   The Winery features a lighthouse and Sculpture Garden.   Wine, cheese and chocolate tastings are available.
