Sol Duc Hot Springs
The Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort is located in the Olympic National Park in the stunning Sol Duc Valley. The resort consists of a small restaurant, modest cabins and hot mineral pools. It's possible to visit the pools even if you're not staying at the resort (the resort is closed during winter).
Some key attractions near the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort include the Sol Duc Waterfall, and Salmon Cascades. The waterfall trailhead is just a five minute drive from the resort. It's then a 20-minute easy hike to the waterfall through old growth forest (0.8 miles one way). There are also some longer day hikes from this trailhead to remote alpine lakes; including Mink Lake and Deer Lake (call the Wilderness Information Center for conditions and further information; 360 565 3100).
The Salmon Cascades on the Sol Duc River is another popular attraction on the way to the resort. In late summer and early fall it's possible to stand on a platform above the Salmon Cascades, and view chinook and coho salmon leaping up the cascades to return to their spawning grounds.
