Snoqualmie Waterfall
Spectacular Snoqualmie Waterfall is just a 40 minute drive east of Seattle. It's one of Seattle's most popular tourist attractions, and also the site of the luxurious Salish Lodge.
Snoqualmie Falls includes a two-acre park and observation deck providing breathtaking views of the 270-foot falls. It's only a short walk from the car park to the observation deck. However the hiking track to the base of the falls is closed until 2013.
Snoqualmie Waterfall is also the site of an ambitious engineering project, housing the world's first underground hydroelectric plant built in 1898-99, encased in bedrock 260 feet below. For more information on this incredible engeering feat, watch the Emmy winning documentary "The Power of Snoqualmie Falls" on the Puget Sound Energy website. Tours of the operations are not available until the scheduled 2013 completion of a redevelopment project.
Salish Lodge - dining & accommodation
After viewing the falls, visit the nearby Salish Lodge for a meal in either the "The Dining Room" or the more informal "Attic". Both options have tables with lovely views of the Falls. Exterior shots of Salish Lodge were also featured in the 1990's cult hit "Twin Peaks" as the Great Northern Hotel.
Some other accommodation options near the falls include:
- B&B with lovely garden: House in the Trees at Bethabara Farms
- Riverside Cottage: Birdsong Cottage Address
- Family Vacation Rental: Edge River Estate

Probably one of the most unique ways to see Snoqualmie Falls is by taking Seattle Heli Tours helicopter Trip C. They leave from Seattle and the helicopter banks down very near the falls. People from the observations platforms can even see you in the helicopter and start to shoots pictures! What a view!

No trip in Washington stateSubmitted by MD11 (not verified) on Wed, 2010-07-07 19:27.
No trip in Washington state is complete without visiting the falls. If you stay at the Salish lodge, have a drink at the bar while taking in the falls. The best place to stop for food is the Woodman Lodge, especially if you like steaks.
