Second Beach, La Push
Second Beach is located just outside La Push on the Washington coastline, and is a true gem. La Push is flanked by a series of wild beaches; First Beach, Second Beach and Third Beach, but Second Beach is by far the most spectacular.
Second Beach can be accessed by a 20-minute hike through coastal forest from a clearly marked trailhead on the road, just 5 minutes south of La Push. The 0.7 mile hike into Second Beach adds to the sense of seclusion, and the views are simply breathtaking as the trail descends 200 feet to the beach. Driftwood is piled high along the edge of the beach, and the dramatic sea stacks and tide pools are especially popular with photography enthusiasts. The beach is hemmed in other either side by impassable headlands. A unique feature at the northern end of the beach is a natural arch with a keyhole view.
During summertime the sandy beach is popular for long walks, picnics and sunbathing.
Note – Always exercise extreme caution with changing tides when exploring western beaches, as visitors have become stranded in coves or around headlands with rising tides.
