Poulsbo
Poulsbo is rich in Scandinavian heritage, located a short ferry ride from Seattle in Puget Sound. Take the Seattle to Bainbridge Island Ferry to get to Poulsbo.
Poulsbo was founded in the late 1880’s by Norwegian immigrant Jorgen Ellison. He was soon joined by other family members and friends, attracted by the snow-capped mountains and waterways reminiscent of their homeland. This scandinavian heritage is clearly evident in Poulsbo's architecture and shops.

Poulsbo is better in the rainSubmitted by weekend_traveler on Thu, 2010-09-16 14:44.
Poulsbo is better in the rain in the winter. It's a place to wander around, but it's a little dull for anyone under the age of 35..... The Antique shops look more like Grandma's attic rather than high quality showcases for furniture. (Sorry to say.) But the bookstores, both new & used, are nice and well worth supporting! Also, loved my Turkey BLT Wrap from Cups Espresso!

Great little town with anSubmitted by DG01 (not verified) on Tue, 2010-07-06 21:09.
Great little town with an abundance of restaurants, pubs, bakeries and shops. The place has a Norwegian style, as many of the original descendants hailed from Norway. A great place for families and couples.
