Mt Rainier Gondola
The new Mt Rainier Gondola provides panoramic views of Mt Rainier and the Cascades in Washington State. It's located 2 hours south of Seattle at the Crystal Mountain Resort, and opened on 1/1/2011. Check ticket price and opening times for the gondola (generally open from 9:00 – 3:30pm for foot traffic). Call 360 663 3050 if you have any questions.
Ride the Mt Rainier Gondola in Winter or Summer
A visit to the Mt Rainier Gondola is the perfect day trip for summer or winter. The summit is no longer just a destination for skiers, and is equally popular with foot passengers wishing to admire the breathtaking views and enjoy a lovely meal. The 10-minute gondola ride takes you from the base of Crystal Mountain’s Ski Area to the Summit House Restaurant (6,872 feet). If you don’t wish to visit the restaurant, there's a small snack bar to purchase a coffee or hot dog. Sightseers can take photos from the open viewing platform at the top of the gondola.

The Summit House Restaurant provides a fine dining experience, with stunning views of Mount Rainier. This is the perfect place for an engagement, romantic meal or other special event. Always call ahead to make advanced reservations and check opening times, events and package deals (360 663 3085).
Tips before leaving
- Always check road conditions: During winter the only access to Crystal Mountain is along Highway 410 East from Enumclaw. Always check road conditions before leaving. You might need to fit tire chains during certain weather conditions.
- Foot passengers need warm clothing: Foot passengers on the gondola should also dress in warm clothing. There are no sheltered areas at the top of the mountain aside from the Summit House Restaurant. On a windy/cold day you will be very exposed at the top of the Summit.
- Make a reservation at the Summit House Restaurant: The restaurant is extremely popular, thus it’s essential you make a reservation before leaving.
