Mount Rainier Railroad
Visit Elbe WA for a train ride on the Mount Rainier Railroad. Elbe is a historic lumber town, located 1.5 hours from Seattle WA.
Vintage steam locomotives depart from the Elbe Depot, taking visitors on a scenic train ride through the foothills of Mount Rainier to Mineral Lake. The total round-trip takes 2-hours (or longer if you select the BBQ option at Mineral Lake). Refreshments are also available for purchase on the train.
The original railway was built in 1904 to transport logs from the surrounding hillsides to Elbe. A descendant of one of the original logging families, Tom Murray Jr, struck a deal with the Weyerhaeuser Company in 1980 to preserve a section of the railway between Elbe and Mineral Lake for tourist trains.
Kids will delight in the many seasonal events on the Mount Rainier Railroad; including the “Pumpkin Express” in Fall and “Santa Express” in December.
Advanced bookings are always recommended for the train rides. Call 1.888.STEAM.11 to making a booking.
