Moran State Park
Moran State Park is located on the east side of Orcas Island in the idyllic San Juan Islands.
The highlight of a trip to Moran State Park is a visit to Mt Constitution (2,409 feet), the highest point in the San Juan Islands. Mt Constitution has panoramic views of the San Juan Islands, Mt Baker and the Cascades. Visitors can drive or hike to the top of this mountain, and stop by the observation tower and gift shop.
Moran State Park also has a number of stunning lakes to explore. Both Mountain Lake and Cascade Lake are accessible by road, but Twin Lakes can only be reached by hiking in. Pristine Mountain Lake is a true wilderness lake, ringed by thick forest with a 3.9 mile hiking trail around the lake. Cascade Lake is less secluded, and has a kiosk, swimming beach, and day use area popular for BBQs and picnics. Visitors can also rent a kayak or paddle boat at the lake, or take an easy 2.7 mile hike around the lake.
Moran State Park has over 38-miles of trails connecting the key attractions. These trails pass through old growth forest, around beautiful lakes, to Cascade Falls, and to the top of Mt Constitution. Trailheads are clearly marked along the main road through the park.
