Marrowstone Island - near Port Townsend
Marrowstone Island is located on the Northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, near Port Townsend. Visit the the fascinating Fort Flagler with breathtaking views of Puget Sound, or explore 5-miles of biking and hiking trails.
To get to Marrowstone Island, take the Seattle to Bainbridge Island Ferry then drive north-west for over an hour (bridge crossing to the island). It's recommended you stop at historic Port Gamble along the way.
Fort Flagler - Triangle of Fire
A key highlight at Marrowstone Island is the 784-acre Fort Flager State Park, situated on a bluff at the northern end of Marrowstone Island. Fort Flagler previously formed the Triangle of Fire guarding the entrance to Puget Sound, alongside Fort Worden at Port Townsend, and Fort Casey on Whidbey Island. It commands spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains and Cascades, and features many historic buildings, including an army barracks, officer's quarters and a hospital. A military museum is open to visitors.
