Lime Kiln State Park
Lime Kiln State Park, known as the “Whale Watching Parkâ€, is located on the west coast of San Juan Island in Washington State. It’s considered the best location in the world to view Orca Whales from the shoreline. There are two pod communities in these waters; the Transients and Resident Community. The prime whale watching season is June through September.
Another key attraction at Lime Kiln State Park is the Lime Kiln Lighthouse, built in 1919. It’s just a 10-minute walk along an easy shoreline trail to the lighthouse. The rocky shoreline has spectacular views across Haro Strait to the Olympic Mountains, and abundant sea life. During summertime it’s common to see kayaking tours near the Lighthouse.
