1. Bonsai Collection
The Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection is a true gem and one of the Northwest’s best kept secrets. It’s considered one of the top Bonsai collections in the United States, only rivaled by the collection at the US National Arboretum in Washington DC. It was opened to the public in 1989 by the Weyerhaeuser Company.
Discover over 50 miniature trees in a natural, open setting surrounded by towering Douglas fir. Some of these bonsai trees are decades old and have been collected from Pacific Rim nations as diverse as Canada, Japan, Taiwan and Korea. Admire the workmanship of the Bonsai masters that have skillfully shaped these trees into a variety of different styles; including Formal Upright, Cascading and Slanting.
2. Rhododendron Garden
The nearby Rhododendron Garden is perfect for an afternoon stroll, and there are more than 600 species of Rhododendrons on display. It's run by a non-profit organization with the primary objective of conservation and research around this plant species. Don’t forget to stop by the lovely nursery and gift shop.
