Baker Lake

Baker Lake is the jewel of the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, located off Highway 20 in the North Cascades of Washington State. Always check road conditions to Baker Lake, as sections of the highway are closed during certain times of the year. This pristine sub-alpine lake is surrounded by old growth forest, and offers breathtaking views of snowcapped Mt Baker. 

Directions to Baker Lake

Baker Lake be reached by taking the Baker Lake exit off Highway 20, and driving 15 minutes north.  The turnoff is a few miles west of the historic township of Concrete. 

The 15-minute drive after the exit passes three campgrounds/day use areas; including Horseshoe Cove, Swift Creek, and finally Shannon Creek.  Swift Creek and Shannon Creek have the most picturesque settings, offering superb mountain views.  The final section of the road from Swift Creek to Shannon Creek is unsealed.  During summer, visitors can spend a leisurely day enjoying the beaches at each day use area, with cool, calm waters perfect for swimming. There are plenty of picnic tables and restrooms, but no general store.

Camping and cabins at Baker Lake

The Baker Lake Lodge is an alternative to the three campgrounds, and is located at the southern end of the lake consisting of a general store, cabins and camping area.  Please visit the Baker Lake Lodge website for driving directions.
