Umpqua Lighthouse
The Umpqua Lighthouse is located on the Central Oregon Coast, just 30-minutes south of Florence. The lighthouse is positioned on a spectacular coastal ridge, with commanding views of the entrance to Winchester Bay to the north, and open coastal dunes to the west. This 65-foot lighthouse was first lit in 1894, and visitors can tour the inside of the lighthouse for an up-close look at the stunning red and white lens.
The Umpqua River Lighthouse Museum and Gift Shop is just a short distance from the lighthouse, housed in the former US Coast Guard administration building. Both the museum and lighthouse are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and are open from May to September, but closed Mondays and Tuesdays (call 541 271 4631 for lighthouse tours).
The lighthouse and museum are adjacent to the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, featuring a pristine coastal dune lake, Lake Marie. Visitors can enjoy a day use area near Lake Marie, with a small beach perfect for swimming, fishing or kayaking, and a 1-mile nature trail around the lake.
Visitors also have access to an attractive ocean beach at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, popular for crabbing, fishing and surfing.
