Rogue River

The wild Rogue River travels 215 miles from Crater Lake to the Pacific Ocean in southwestern Oregon. The Rogue River is famous for its whitewater rapids, narrow canyons, historic lodges, abundant wildlife and warm summers.

There are 3 options for exploring the Lower Rogue River:

1. Rogue Jet Boats:  Take a full day tour up the Rogue River on Jerry’s Rogue Jets or mail boats.  Mail boats were introduced in 1895 by the US Postal Service to deliver mail to remote river communities. See black bears, bald eagles, deer and osprey along the way. Jerry’s Rogue Jets is located at the mouth of the Rogue River in Gold Beach, 45 minutes north of the Californian Border.
2. Rogue River Rafting or hiking from lodge to lodge (no road access):  More adventurous visitors can book a multi-day hiking or float trip up the Lower Rogue River.  Travel between historic lodges each day, including the Black Bear Lodge, Paradise Lodge, Clay Hill Lodge, and Half Moon Lodge.  The Clay Hill Lodge was featured on the PBS “Adventure Lodges of America” program. 3. Rogue River Lodges (with road access):   If you’d prefer to admire the Rogue River from a riverside lodge with road access, try the Tu Tu Tun Lodge in Gold Beach, Weasku Inn at Grants Pass, or Morrisons Rogue River Lodge  at Merlin.
