Paulina Falls
Paulina Falls is a key attraction at the "Newberry National Volcanic Monument" in Central Oregon.
The falls are located on the edge of a caldera at Newberry Volcano’s summit, formed after Newberry Volcano erupted 1,300 years ago and split into two lakes, Paulina Lake and East Lake. The falls descend 60-feet from a cliff on the edge of the caldera rim, along a creek that flows downstream from Paulina Lake. The sheer drop of the falls is accentuated by the towering ponderosa pines above it.
The viewing platform for the upper falls is only a few minutes walk from the parking lot, and visitors can also hike down to the base of the falls.
