Oregon Dunes
The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is 3-hours drive south-west of Portland. It runs for 50-miles along Highway 101, from Florence to the township of North Bend. This is the largest stretch of sand dunes in North America, and some dunes are 500-feet above sea level.
There are some popular hikes; including the 1-mile “Carter Trail” to the ocean, and the 1-mile “Oregon Dunes Overlook”.
Rentals at the Oregon Dunes - ATV, Dune Buggy
Three main areas have been set aside for off-road vehicles at the Oregon Dunes. Signs for guided dune buggy tours and ATV rentals are visible along Highway 101.
Camping at the Oregon Dunes
There are plenty of camping grounds in or near the dunes. Alternatively you can find lodging at nearby Florence.
