Florence Oregon

Florence is a 3-hour drive from Portland, located on the Oregon Coast.   It includes a charming Historic Waterfront District, and an abundance of nearby attractions such as:

• Cape Perpetua - 23 miles north
• Heceta Head Lighthouse - 12 miles north
• Sea Lions Caves - 10.4 miles north
• Oregon Dunes - 7 miles south

The section of Florence along Highway 101 is highly urbanized, with hotel chains and restaurants.  However the true gem is the Old Town/Waterfront District on the Siuslaw River.  You will discover tasteful gift shops, boutiques, apparel, restaurants, inns and a boardwalk along this stretch.  This is a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. 

Oregon Dunes – dune buggy and ATV tours

The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area runs for nearly 50-miles along Highway 101, from Florence to the township of North Bend.  This is the largest stretch of Sand Dunes in North America, and some dunes are 500-feet above sea level.  You will see signs for guided dune buggy and ATV tours and rentals along the way.
