The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center is located in The Dalles on the Columbia River, 1.5 hours east of Portland.
The Discovery Center is housed in a modern building, recognized by the American Institute of Architects for its innovative design. A minimum of 3-hours is required to explore the extensive exhibits, theater presentations and multimedia displays, documenting the cultural and geological history of the Columbia River Gorge. The live Rapor “birds of prey” show is also a hit with visitors, presented by museum staff in the Discovery Center River Gallery.
