Cape Meares

Cape Meares is a 2-hour drive west of Portland, on the Oregon Coast.  It’s part of the “Three Capes Scenic Drive” comprising Capes Meares, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda.  It’s recommended you also visit nearby Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda.

Cape Meares Lighthouse

It’s only a short walk along a headland to the Cape Meares Lighthouse.  The views from the lighthouse are incredible and include the Three Arch Rocks to the left, and a magnificent inlet with 200-foot sheer cliffs to the right.  The imposing form of a rocky outcrop lies directly ahead, and is one of the largest nesting grounds for common mures on the continent.  The park is open all year round, but the lighthouse is only open from April to October. 

The dramatic headland at Cape Meares offers some of the best views of the coast.
