Bandon

The historic township of Bandon is located on the southern Oregon Coast at the mouth of the Coquille River.  The town is perfect for walking, and has a large number of restaurants, gift shops, galleries and book-stores to explore.

The nicest part of Bandon is the boardwalk along the Coquille River waterfront.  This has been tastefully decorated with hand-carved wooden picnic tables and benches, and a glassed in picnic area offering protection from the rain.  There are also some quaint fish and crab cafes to dine at.  One of the best experiences is walking along Weber’s Pier, and watching fisherman reel in huge Coho and Chinook.

Things to do near Bandon

• Bullards Beach State Park & Coquille River Lighthouse is just 2 miles north of Bandon, and is a very popular camping and RV spot due to its protected location.  There’s also a horse camp.  Visitors can take long walks along the surf beach, or go fishing, clamming or boating in the river. The Coquille River Lighthouse is located at the head of the river.
• The West Coast Game Park at Bandon is a must see attraction.  The Game Park is located 8-miles north of Bandon on Highway 101. Much of the wildlife roams freely in the park, and guests are encouraged to feed and interact with the animals.  Take advantage of this once in a lifetime experience to step instead a nursery and hold baby cubs and tigers.
• Cape Blanco is 25 miles south of Bandon on Highway 101.  Hike along 8-miles of beachfront trails, or visit the lighthouse and historic Hughes House.
• The Port Orford Heads State Park is also a must-see, and has a fully renovated museum and spectacular cliff-top trail.  It’s located 27 miles south of Bandon on Highway 101. The museum provides fascinating insight into the history of the US Coast Guard stationed along this treacherous part of the coast.
