Tumalo Falls
Spectacular Tumalo Falls is located 11.4 miles west of the lovely township of Bend in Central Oregon, in the Deschutes National Forest. The road to the falls is closed during winter.
There is a viewing platform at the base of Tumalo Falls, just a short walk from the parking lot. Visitors can also follow the trail another 10 minutes to a viewpoint overlooking the 97-foot falls. The popular North Fork Trail can also be accessed from the parking lot, and follows Tumalo Creek along a series of other smaller waterfalls. Mountain biking is permitted along this trail, but uphill only.
Camping & Lodging at Tumalo Falls
Tumalo Falls is located in a day use area with picnic tables and a bathroom, but no camping is permitted. If you wish to camp, call 1800 452 5687 to reserve a yurt, campsite or RV site at nearby Tumalo State Park, just 15 minutes north of Bend, open year round. - Newberry Volcanic Monument off Highway 97, features Paulina Falls, two pristine mountain lakes, and the Big Obsidian Flow.
- Cascades Lakes Scenic Byway off Highway 97, features a series of pristine mountain lakes, including Devil’s Lake, Elk Lake, Hosmer Lake and Lava Lake, and the quaint Elk Lake resort for lunch.
- Mount Bachelor is primarily a winter ski destination.
